Armor and Weapon Descriptions
This first part is armor descriptions. The brief was a Destiny-style sci-fi shooter game involving a war for the solar system. I wanted to ensure each armor had distinct identities as well as hint at gameplay functions.
Standard issue Solar Alliance combat armor, mass produced in Castellian Inc.’s foundries on Mars. Cheap, but reliable.
“Reaction time’s off the charts. About the only thing this armor’s good at.” - Lt. Leo Hayes
Comes screaming from the sky with a vengeance, then lands like a meteor. Short range jump packs make this one deceptively fast despite its size.
“You never forget your first drop. Trust me.” - Col. Rishi Vantra
Salvaged xeno-tech allows short range teleports and near-invisibility. Still undergoing field testing.
“Something about the way the ‘porter after-image… It’s like it’s barely human.” - Tech Spec. Nina Salvos
Below are descriptions for fantasy weapons. The brief was an Elden Ring/Baldur’s Gate style fantasy RPG. As with the above armor, I wanted to weave worldbuilding details and gameplay function within 200 characters.
I especially enjoyed coming up with interesting fantasy names. That’s pretty easy for me.
Type-R Combat Array “Myrmidon”
Type-S Combat Array “Thunderbird”
Type-A Combat Array “Thoth”
Rrashmir Bandit Claws
Favored by bandits in the deep desert. The sharp blades cause extensive bleeding, leading to a slow death. For that reason, there’s a prayer among traders:
“May he who meets the claws die swift and painless.”
Rintrah’s Bane
The soul of a demon is trapped in the crystal of this staff, left to scream impotently in rage for eternity. Many have tried to control its power, and none have succeeded.
Ieade Royal Guard Shield
Ceremonial shields designed for the Royal Guard of the kingdom of Ieade. They’re as ostentatious as they are impervious. The peasants says they’re polished so well, they outshine stars.
